Dr. Vinod Kumar is an Assistant Professor of English in the School of Languages at Jagat Guru Nanak Dev Punjab State Open University (JGND PSOU) in Patiala. He also serves as the Incharge of the University Legal Cell and is a member of several university committees. With over 17 years of experience in teaching and research, Dr. Kumar holds a PhD from Punjabi University, Patiala, for his research on "India as a Changing Ideological Formation." He also has an M.Phil in Indian English Literature and master's degrees in both English and Punjabi. His extensive teaching career includes positions at Punjabi University and AS College Khanna, along with other esteemed institutions in Punjab. His key areas of interest are Indian English Non-Fiction, Theories of Ideology, Gender Studies, Translation, and Creative Writing. He specializes in Indian English Non-Fiction and English-Punjabi translation. Dr. Kumar has authored several books in both English and Punjabi, including India Imagined and Reading Ideology, Understanding Nation. His translation work includes the forthcoming Punjabi edition of Ryan Holiday's The Obstacle is the Way. He has also published 20 research papers in international journals, served as an Associate Editor for the international journal South Asian Ensemble, and has authored numerous articles for newspapers. As a dedicated academic, Dr. Kumar has been instrumental in developing the curriculum and for both the MA and PhD (English) programs at JGND PSOU. He is a key contributor to the university's Open and Distance Learning (ODL) system, having developed and edited e-content, including video lectures and e-text lessons, for the MA English and Bachelor of Arts (Liberal Arts) programs. Additionally, he has served as a resource person and delivered lectures at various institutions, and has participated as an organizer, panelist, and delegate in numerous national and international seminars and workshops.
