Short Biography

  • Dr. Supinder Kaur is a Professor at the Department of Laws, Panjab University, Chandigarh, with over 22 years of teaching and research experience. She holds prestigious academic qualifications including B.A. (Hons. Political Science), LL.B, LL.M, and Ph.D., and specializes in Personal Law and Criminal Law. She has an extensive publication record with approximately 50 journal papers, 50 conference papers, and seven books to her credit. Dr. Kaur has served as a panel member and expert speaker across various State Service Commissions, universities, colleges, institutes, and Internal Complaints Committees (ICCs) in public and government sectors. Her scholarly and expert contributions include a recorded episode on the PCPNDT Act by the Haryana State Women and Child Department (2024) under the Ministry of Women and Child Welfare, India. She has been invited as a panelist for national consultations and discussions on significant legal and socio-legal topics, including participation in a CEDAW National Consultation organized by NAWO (2023) and a panel discussion on the Uniform Civil Code on Doordarshan Punjabi (2023). She supervised a Post-Doctoral Fellowship funded by ICSSR (2022) on food security issues in Punjab and was invited as an international expert for a Ph.D. viva at Tribhuvan University, Nepal (2021), being the first faculty member from her department to receive such an honor. Her research focuses on socio-legal issues concerning women and children, cyber and environmental law, science and technology, NRI and minor marriages, corruption in politics, gender audit, criminality in higher education, media and law, health and law, Wakfs and Trusts, media literacy, NEP, and related emerging areas. Dr. Kaur has also held important leadership roles, having been elected President of the Panjab University Teachers Association (PUTA) for 2022-23 and serving as a Fellow in the Panjab University Senate during the same term, contributing significantly to academic administration along with her teaching and research duties.
