Short Biography
- Dr. Ronki Ram is currently Professor Emeritus at Institute for Development and Communication, Chandigarh, member State Higher Education Council, UT, Chandigarh, and Visiting Professor University of Ladakh. Ear-lier, he served as Shaheed Bhagat Singh Chair Professor of Political Science at Panjab University, Dean (Arts Faculty), PU, Honorary Director, ICSSR, (NWRC), Chandigarh, member Indian National Commission for Cooperation with UNESCO, Visiting Professor University of Wolverhampton, UK, ICCR Chair Professor at Leiden University, the Netherlands, and Ryukoku University, Kyoto, Japan. Widely travelled both at home and abroad, Prof Ram has published large number of research articles in peer reviewed international research journals like Modern Asian Studies, Journal of Asian Studies, Asian Survey, Contributions to Indian Sociology, Journal of Sikh & Punjab Studies, South Asian Survey, Sikh Formations and EPW among others, in addition to books on identity politics, social mobility and farmers' protest movements in Punjab, and several book chapters and opinion articles in popular magazines and national/regional newspapers.
