Short Biography
- Prof. (Dr) Emanual Nahar is a Professor of Political Science and Former Member of the Senate and Syndicate Panjab University, Chandigarh. He has also held the prestigious office of Dean-Students Welfare (DSW), Panjab University. He specializes in 'Minority and Dalit Politics' and 'Foreign Policy' issues. Prof. Nahar obtained his Doctorate in Political Science from Panjab University, Chandigarh and is a former Director/ Coordinator, Centre for the Study of Social Exclusion and Inclusive Policy and Post Graduate Diploma in Human Rights and Duties, Panjab University, Chandigarh. He is a former Director of Dr. Ambedkar Centre of Panjab University Chandigarh. Dr Nahar is also a member of the Research Degree Committee of various Departments of the Panjab University, Chandigarh. About 18 students have completed Ph.D degrees under his supervision and published nearly 17 books and more than 70 research papers in reputed national and International Journals. He is an advisory member of many educational bodies/institutions and an editorial member of many reputed research journals. Prof. Emanual Nahar has presented more than 107 papers at various national and international seminars and conferences. He is also the recipient of prestigious awards-Thorpe's and William Carry Award in the field of education and Peace Award in the field of Social Work and Education awarded by Messenger of Peace Welfare Organization Jalandhar (Punjab) in the year 2022 and State Achievers' Award by the Government of Punjab on the Eve of 550th Parkash Purb of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji on Nov. 10th 2019 at Jalandhar. He is also appointed as a Chairman, Punjab State Commission for Minorities, for a period of 3 years
