Short Biography
- Dr. Kavita Saharan is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology at Jagat Guru Nanak Dev Punjab State Open University, Patiala. She holds a Ph.D. in Sociology from Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law, Punjab, and has qualified UGC-NET with JRF. She completed her Master's degree in Sociology and Social Anthropology from Punjabi University, Patiala, where she was awarded a Gold Medal for academic excellence. Her areas of specialization include Gender Studies, Sociology of Health, Rural Sociology, and Field-Based Investigation. Dr. Saharan has published four research papers in reputed journals, authored one book, and contributed two book chapters. She has also presented research papers at national and international conferences. Previously, she served as a Teaching Assistant for three years in the MOOC course "Sociology of Gender". She has worked with the National Commission for Women and participated in consultation programmes focused on women’s issues. Her academic and research engagements reflect a strong commitment to empirical research and critical inquiry in sociology.
