Short Biography
- Dr. Jagroop Kaur is a distinguished retired Professor of Political Science from Punjabi University, Patiala, with an academic career spanning 39 years. She holds M.A., M.Phil., and Ph.D. degrees and has made significant contributions in the areas of political thought, political theory, gender studies, Indian polity, and international relations. Dr. Kaur has published extensively, including over 21 research papers in national journals, 20 conference presentations, and three books—two authored and one edited—focusing on Western and contemporary political thought. A dedicated academic mentor, she has supervised 12 Ph.D. and 64 M.Phil. dissertations, with several scholars currently under her guidance. She has held key administrative positions such as Head of the Department of Political Science, Additional Dean Research, Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences, and Dean, College Development Council at Punjabi University. She has also served as a Senate and Syndicate Member, chaired the University’s Prevention of Sexual Harassment Cell, and contributed as an editor of the Journal of Government and Political Studies. A recipient of the Haryana State Merit Scholarship, Dr. Kaur has delivered 16 invited talks and actively organized major academic events, including ICSSR-sponsored workshops and national seminars. Her work reflects a deep commitment to political research, social equity, and academic leadership.
