Dr. Harvinder Singh Bhatti is a distinguished sociologist with over three decades of teaching, research, and administrative experience. He has served as Professor of Sociology at Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University, Fatehgarh Sahib, and previously at Punjabi University, Patiala, where he also held key leadership roles including Dean, Student Welfare, Provost, Head, Department of Sociology and Social Anthropology, Director, Centre for Census Studies and Research, and Director, University Institute of Impact Assessment.
Dr. Bhatti holds MA, MPhil, and Ph.D. degrees in Sociology and Anthropological Linguistics, and specializes in Sociology of Religion and Culture, Punjabi Society, Social Relationships, Sociology of Environment, Development Studies, and Social Impact Assessment. A recognized expert in impact assessment, he has served as Coordinator and Advisor to the State Social Impact Assessment Authority, Punjab, and completed major research and consultancy projects, mobilizing significant funding.
With 30+ years of administrative leadership and 32+ years of research and teaching, Dr. Bhatti has guided numerous Ph.D. and M.Phil. scholars, authored several books, and published extensively in reputed journals. He has delivered over 100 invited lectures, participated in national and international conferences, and contributed to media through TV and radio talks.
A member of leading academic associations including the International Sociological Association, American Sociological Association, and Indian Sociological Society, Dr. Bhatti has represented India globally, with academic visits to the USA, Canada, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, UAE, and Pakistan. He is multilingual, fluent in English, Punjabi, Hindi, and Urdu, and continues to contribute actively to social research, policy development, and academic mentorship.
