About

The public of Sanghera, its surrounding villages, and also of Barnala had been feeling the need of rural Degree College since long at or near Barnala. In pursuance of these feelings and in order to meet this long standing demand, Gram Panchayat of Sanghera took up the initiative and donated some land for constructing a college. Accordingly a charitable trust, known as Guru Gobind Singh College Trust Sanghera was formed and registered in 1969. The donated land of the Gram Panchayat of Sanghera was transferred to this trust and Guru Gobind Singh College was established in July 1972 on the Barnala-Ludhiana Road at Distance of 2 km from Barnala. So, in 1984(REGD NO. KC/691-83-84) a seperate Managing Committee constructed to boost the college.Besides imparting instruction up to Degree level, the college also provides training in the National Cadet Corps and National Service Scheme. Arrangements exist for all major and minor games for boys and girls in the college. In order to develop talents of the students,a number of cultural and literary societies have been formed in the college. It brings out its magazine, Patrika, once a year. Learner Support Centres (LSCs)

LSC is the term given to a centre established in the state of Punjab only, which is maintained or recognized by the University for the purpose of advising, counselling, evaluating or for rendering any other assistance required by the learners during their Programmes of study with JGND PSOU. As per Section 20(f), (g) of JGND PSOU Act 2019, A Leaner Support Centre (LSC) is the contact point or centre managed by the University for providing academic as well as administrative support to its learners and to perform other such functions as specified in UGC regulations.

As per UGC ODL Regulations 2020, JGND PSOU, Patiala established LSCs in various Government Colleges/Government Aided Colleges/Colleges affiliated to PU Chandigarh; GNDU Amritsar; Punjabi University Patiala and IKGPTU, Jalandhar in Punjab State only for providing the following facilities to learners who want to obtain Certificate/Diploma/Degree through ODL mode:

• Guiding Counselling
• Vocational Guidance
• Laboratory for experimental work
• Library Services
• Field Experience
• Information Communication Technology Facilities etc.

The LSC is headed by a Coordinator. As per UGC ODL Regulations 2020, the Coordinator of LSC is a regular teacher not below the rank of a qualified Assistant Professor of the concerned College and assisted by the counselors as decided by the host college.
