Author Guidelines

All submissions to the International Journal of AI in Practice are processed through an online submission system. Authors are requested to carefully follow the guidelines below to ensure a smooth review and publication process.

Article Types

The journal accepts the following categories of manuscripts:

  1. Original Research Articles: Manuscripts presenting novel research findings, supported by empirical data, methodological rigor, and original analysis.
  2. Review Articles: Comprehensive and critical evaluations of existing literature that synthesize current knowledge, identify research gaps, and propose future research directions.

Manuscript Preparation and Presentation

  1. Manuscript Length: Original Research Articles should not exceed 15,000 words, including references. Review Articles should be between 8,000 and 20,000 words and must include a minimum of 25 scholarly references.
  2. Language Quality: Manuscripts must be written in clear and grammatically correct English. Authors whose first language is not English are strongly encouraged to have their manuscript reviewed by a proficient English speaker prior to submission.
  3. Author Information and Affiliations: Author affiliations should appear immediately below the manuscript title. For multi-authored submissions, full names, institutional affiliations, and email addresses of all authors must be provided. Any change in affiliation after the completion of the work should be indicated as a footnote.
  4. Abstract: Abstracts should be between 150 and 300 words and must not exceed 350 words. They should clearly describe the research context, objectives, methodology, principal findings, significance, and conclusions. The IMRAD (Introduction, Methods, Results, and Discussion) structure is recommended. References, figures, and tables should not be included in the abstract.
  5. Keywords: Authors should provide 3 to 7 relevant keywords to facilitate indexing and retrieval.
  6. Tables: Tables must be cited sequentially in the text and submitted in an editable format. Each table should have a clear title and appropriate captions.
  7. Funding Information: All financial support and funding sources must be clearly stated in a dedicated Funding Support section.
  8. Reference Style: The journal follows the APA citation and referencing style. All in-text citations must correspond accurately with entries in the reference list.
  9. ORCID: Authors are encouraged to register for an ORCID iD and include it during submission. ORCID ensures accurate attribution and improves research visibility. Information on registration is available at https://orcid.org/.
  10. Cover Letter: Submission of a cover letter is encouraged. The letter should briefly describe the manuscript’s contribution, novelty, and key findings. If the work is an extension of a previously published conference paper, details of the expansion must be provided.

Manuscript Revisions

When revisions are requested, authors must submit the following documents:

  1. Response to Reviewers: A detailed point-by-point response addressing each reviewer and editor comment.
  2. Revised Manuscript (Tracked Changes): A version highlighting all modifications.
  3. Revised Manuscript (Clean Copy): A final version without tracked changes.

Post-Acceptance Procedure

  1. Editorial Assessment: Accepted manuscripts undergo final checks by the editorial office prior to production.
  2. Publishing Agreement and Fees: Corresponding authors will be contacted to complete the publication license and Article Processing Charge (APC) formalities.
  3. Proofreading: Page proofs will be sent to the corresponding author for final approval. Corrections must be returned within five working days.

Authorship Criteria

The journal adheres to the ICMJE authorship guidelines. Authorship requires substantial intellectual contribution, drafting or critical revision, final approval, and accountability for the integrity of the work.

Author order and inclusion must be finalized at submission. Requests for changes prior to acceptance require editorial approval and written consent from all authors.

Use of Artificial Intelligence

In accordance with COPE guidelines, AI tools may not be listed as authors. Any use of AI in writing, data analysis, or figure generation must be transparently disclosed in the manuscript. Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, and ethical compliance of their work.

Deposit and Archiving Policy

Authors are encouraged to deposit the final published PDF in recognized repositories, personal webpages, or institutional archives, with a link to the journal’s official website.

Preprint and Prior Publication Policy

The journal accepts submissions previously shared as preprints, conference papers (with substantial extension), or academic theses, provided transparency, originality, and proper citation are ensured. At least 30% of content must be new for conference-derived manuscripts.

Corrections and Retractions

Corrections are issued to preserve the integrity of the scholarly record. Retractions may occur in cases of serious ethical violations, data fabrication, plagiarism, duplicate publication, or compromised peer review.

Supplementary Materials

Authors may submit supplementary files such as datasets, images, or videos. These materials are published as received and must be accompanied by clear captions.

Conflicts of Interest

All authors must disclose any financial or personal relationships that could influence their research. If no conflicts exist, authors should explicitly state this in the manuscript.

Appeals and Complaints

Authors may appeal editorial decisions within three months by submitting a justified request to the Managing Editor. Complaints regarding content, process, or ethics will be addressed promptly and transparently.

Research Data and Availability

The journal supports the FAIR Data Principles. Authors are encouraged to share supporting data via public repositories and include a clear Data Availability Statement.

All articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY) license. Authors retain copyright while allowing unrestricted reuse with appropriate citation.
